Create

We believe that equity grows from two seeds:

OPPORTUNITY, & CONNECTION.

[sounds*different] [spaces] are built on this core idea. They are shaped for the less conventional, less conforming, and less connected to feel safe, secure and supported, with the freedom to create their own way. We foster [spaces] to be just, real and open, to nurture new avenues for a new wave of artists

If you want to remove barriers, why do you charge?
We have a transparent business model built on three principles:

The Minority Burden - We don’t believe that those held back by systemic barriers should be the ones burdened with resolving them. We want to pay our mentors a decent and equitable wage, as well as local partners and staff. Paid positions enable us to do this and uphold our value of equity.

The Greater Good - Our business model is built on transparency and collectivism. We believe that those who have the means to contribute would prefer their money to go to those who may not, and not into one person’s pocket for profits.

Long lasting change - We believe that the challenges we are here to dismantle will not be fixed quickly. As such, we want our business model to be both self-sufficient and sustainable so we are not critically dependant on donors. This means that decision making power remains with our collective and their interests stay independent.

Connect

Set in exclusive locations, [spaces] are week-long havens for producers to connect and create. Our schedule is framed, rather than fixed; shaped collaboratively to reflect the needs, goals, journey, styles, and aspirations of members and mentors.

Production workshops, track feedback sessions and career development will build artists as people, not just production machines. Off-site studio time, live shows, club nights and cultural experiences will further inspire creativity.

Three mentors will host each [space] and guide participants from the first beat to the final master. Well established mentors have been intentionally invited due to their demonstrated commitment to creating more equitable spaces.
